• Honor 8 will be updated to Android 7 Nougat (with EMUI 5.0) in February

It looks like the Honor 8 will become the first Honor-branded smartphone to be officially updated to Android 7 Nougat. Huawei (Honor's parent company) confirmed via e-mail that the handset will get Nougat in February 2107 - in about two months' time.

The Nougat update will also include EMUI 5.0, Huawei's latest custom launcher. EMUI 5.0 brings plenty of improvements, including an app drawer, enhanced notification shade, a better power management system, and the ability to use different profiles in parallel.

Select users can already test a beta build of Android Nougat with EMUI 5.0 on the Honor 8, but it seems that, for now, this is happening only in the UK (see this Honor Community link for more details).

Officially released in the US back in August, the Honor 8 is currently available for $100 off its original prices: $299 (32 GB model) and $349 (64 GB model). The handset is sold unlocked via most major retailers, and is fully compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile. In case you haven't done it yet, you should check out our Honor 8 review to find out more about the device.
