Samsung is reportedly working on a dedicated gaming smartphone

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 includes a Water Carbon Cooling System

Although gaming phones were never really a thing, the arrival of the original Razer Phone last November kicked off a trend that has since led to the creation of a number of devices including the Asus ROG Phone, Honor Play, and Huawei Mate 20 X. But according to one industry insider, these devices may soon face some tough competition from Samsung.

While exact details about this particular smartphone are yet to be provided, it was revealed last month that Samsung is currently working on a Snapdragon 845-powered Galaxy A device, which could suggest the sources are talking about the same device. If this is indeed the case, 8GB of RAM will likely be included too alongside 128GB of internal storage, although 64GB and 256GB options could be offered too. In any case, the internal setup will presumably be completed by a large battery of at 4,000mAh, Android 8.1 Oreo, and possibly a Galaxy Note 9-like Water Carbon Cooling System.

On the external side of things, the new gaming smartphone will likely adopt a rather generic design that follows in the footsteps of the new Galaxy A7 and Galaxy A9. This means glass and aluminum sandwich is to be expected alongside a tall Infinity Display complete with flat edges.

At the moment, there are no release date or availability details. However, with the holiday season just around the corner, Samsung could officially announce this smartphone in later November, just in time for the December shopping spree.
